Electricity price
The parks are developed as prosumer installations of up to 400 kW. Under Romanian energy law, the electricity supplier buys the energy a prosumer of this size delivers to the grid at the weighted average price of the day-ahead market (PZU) for the month in which it is produced.
The current day-ahead prices are published by OPCOM, the Romanian electricity market operator: day-ahead market (PZU) prices and volumes. Prices there are in lei per MWh; divide by 1,000 for RON/kWh.
The figures on this website use SunGrid Energy's planning price (see the current assumptions), converted to euros at the National Bank of Romania reference rate shown with it. It is a planning figure, not a contracted price.
Energy yield
Yield is the energy a solar park produces per kilowatt-peak (kWp) of capacity in a year. Expected production for the proposed parks is based on the operating park at Balș: its production in a typical year from the park's PVsyst simulation (581 MWh), divided by its capacity. Its first weeks of output are running slightly ahead of that simulation. That is higher than the PVGIS model for Horezu (about 1,252 kWh/kWp); both figures are shown for each proposed park.
Modelled yields come from PVGIS 5.3, the European Commission's photovoltaic model, for a 400 kWp fixed, free-standing park with 14% system losses, at the nearest town or a county reference point. Real sites differ with position, layout, shading and equipment.

The calculator
- Degradation: panels produce slightly less each year; the rate applies from year 2.
- Availability: time the park cannot sell because of grid outages, curtailment or downtime. 100% means none.
- Running costs: maintenance, insurance and land rent of the operating park, as a starting point.
- Price and cost changes: compound each year from year 2. All values are in euros, without inflation.
Limitations
- Production varies from year to year with the weather.
- Electricity prices change every month; the planning price is held flat.
- Financing, tax and depreciation are not included.
- Estimates are not forecasts or guarantees of any park's results.
